Wicked Wayz — Kansas City Underground Hip-Hop Artist & History
Midwest underground artist
Wicked Wayz — Kansas City Underground Hip-Hop Artist
Kansas City underground hip-hop veteran. Independent recording artist. National touring performer. Gathering of the Juggalos alumni. Creator of the Wicked Wayz Glow Show. Founder of Sinister Minded Music.
Wicked Wayz has spent more than a decade carving out his own place in Midwest underground hip-hop.
Coming out of the Kansas City area, Wicked Wayz built his career through the same independent mentality that has defined much of Kansas City rap history: record the music, build the brand, hit the road, sell directly to the fans and create opportunities without waiting for the mainstream music industry to provide them.
His career has included national touring, underground festival appearances, independent releases, collaborations with established artists, live event promotion and the development of his own music company, Sinister Minded Music.
But the Wicked Wayz story has never been only about making records.
It has been about building something.
Early Years
Wicked Wayz began establishing his underground presence during the late 2000s.
Publicly archived music from the era shows Wicked Wayz releasing material online as early as 2009, during a period when independent artists were still relying heavily on platforms such as SoundClick, MySpace, physical CDs, street promotion and direct networking.
Songs including “Purgatory” and other early Wicked Wayz recordings documented an artist already developing the darker sound and identity that would become part of his trademark.
Rather than following the traditional route of waiting for a major label opportunity, Wicked Wayz began building his audience through independent releases, live performances and underground hip-hop networks.
That approach would eventually take the music far outside Kansas City.
The Wicked Wayz Glow Show
One of the most recognizable elements of Wicked Wayz's live career became the Wicked Wayz Glow Show.
The concept incorporated blacklights, glowing stage elements and specialized body paint to transform a traditional rap performance into a visual experience.
Instead of simply walking onto a stage with a microphone, the goal was to create something audiences would remember after the show was over.
The Glow Show became closely associated with the Wicked Wayz name throughout the underground and Juggalo music scenes.
Years later, the official archived website for the 2022 Gathering of the Juggalos specifically promoted Wicked Wayz and the Glow Show when announcing his appearance on the Nightmare Stage.
It remains one of the elements that separates Wicked Wayz from artists whose live presentation consists only of performing songs over backing tracks.
Taking Wicked Wayz Nationwide.
The Low Down N Dirty Tour — 2012
In early 2012, Wicked Wayz joined Psychopathic Records artistBoondoxon theLow Down N Dirty Tour, replacingThe D.R.P.during the run. Wicked Wayz continued on the road alongsideBoondox, Mars and Cousin Cleetus, with surviving tour materials documenting dates throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado and Iowa.
Original promotional material from the January 17, 2012 Beaumont Club date in Kansas City shows Wicked Wayz directly on the official Low Down N Dirty Tour bill. A surviving Wicked Wayz tour itinerary documents the subsequent leg beginning January 21 and continuing through February 12.
The tour became part of a major year of national activity for Wicked Wayz, followed later in 2012 by theKeep It REEL Tour with Mars and Mastamindand an appearance at theGathering of the Juggalos.
By 2012, Wicked Wayz had moved well beyond being strictly a Kansas City-area performer.
That year, Wicked Wayz also joined underground artists Mars and Mastamind as part of the Keep It REEL Tour.
Contemporary underground music outlet Faygoluvers announced Wicked Wayz as a supporting artist and published a tour schedule stretching across numerous states and regions of the United States.
The run included dates throughout the Midwest, East Coast, South, Southwest and West Coast.
Cities and states represented on the published itinerary included locations in:
Iowa
Illinois
Michigan
Indiana
New York
New Hampshire
Maryland
Texas
New Mexico
Arizona
Utah
Washington
Oregon
Idaho
California
The tour represents one of the clearest surviving pieces of documentation showing Wicked Wayz operating as a national underground touring artist during the early part of his career.
Over the course of his career, Wicked Wayz has completed three national tours, along with numerous regional runs and individual performances throughout the United States.
Gathering of the Juggalos — 2012
Another major milestone arrived when Wicked Wayz performed at the 2012 Gathering of the Juggalos.
The Gathering has long served as one of the largest annual events in independent underground music, bringing together established national artists, horrorcore performers, independent rappers and the Juggalo community.
Wicked Wayz appeared as part of the underground lineup during the 2012 Gathering era.
For an independent artist coming out of Kansas City, the performance represented another step in establishing Wicked Wayz beyond his hometown market.
But the Gathering would eventually become an even more important part of the story.
A Career Interrupted — Then Rebuilt
Like many long-running underground careers, the Wicked Wayz story has not been a straight line.
There were periods when music slowed down and life took priority.
Instead of attempting to erase those years from the story, Wicked Wayz eventually used them as part of the motivation behind rebuilding the career.
When the music resumed, the goal wasn't simply to recreate what had existed before.
The goal became building something larger.
That new chapter eventually developed into Sinister Minded Music.
Returning to the Gathering — Ten Years Later
In 2022, Wicked Wayz returned to the Gathering of the Juggalos.
Ten years after appearing during the 2012 Gathering era, Wicked Wayz was officially advertised for the Nightmare Stage at the 2022 event in Thornville, Ohio.
The archived Gathering website promoted Wicked Wayz's appearance and highlighted the Glow Show as part of the performance.
That created a rare career milestone:
Wicked Wayz appeared at the Gathering of the Juggalos in two different eras separated by approximately a decade.
The 2022 appearance represented more than another festival date.
It demonstrated that the Wicked Wayz name had survived long enough to return to one of underground hip-hop's most recognizable events years after the original run.
Building Sinister Minded Music
As the career evolved, Wicked Wayz began operating as more than an artist.
Sinister Minded Music developed into an independent music brand encompassing recording artists, live performances, merchandise, promotion and event production.
Rather than concentrating exclusively on Wicked Wayz, the vision expanded toward creating opportunities for an entire roster of independent artists.
Artists associated with the Sinister Minded Music movement have included:
Wicked Wayz
Reno Da Crow
Kidd Jewell
Wayne Savage
Bisshop
and additional collaborators and developing artists from throughout the Midwest underground.
Sinister Minded Music has also worked to bring national touring artists into Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and surrounding markets while placing independent regional talent on the same events.
That combination of recording artist, promoter, label operator and touring performer has gradually become one of the defining characteristics of Wicked Wayz's current career.
Live Shows and National Artists
Throughout his career, Wicked Wayz has performed on events involving a wide range of artists from underground hip-hop, independent rap, horrorcore and mainstream music.
Documented modern appearances have included events involving artists such as Afroman, DJ Clay, Merkules and other national touring acts.
Additional shows throughout Wicked Wayz's career have connected him with artists from the Psychopathic, Strange Music, underground Midwest, horrorcore and independent rap communities.
Rather than relying only on traditional industry gatekeepers, much of this career has been built through direct relationships with artists, venues, promoters and fans.
That grassroots network remains central to Sinister Minded Music today.
Wicked Wayz Music
The Wicked Wayz catalog spans several different eras of underground hip-hop.
Early recordings were released during the SoundClick and physical-CD era.
Later releases expanded onto modern streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.
Projects and songs connected to the Wicked Wayz catalog include:
Devil's Playground
My Wicked Wayz Made Me Do It
KC Streetz
Halloween Sinister Cypher releases
We Got 5 On It
Sick and Demented
and numerous singles, collaborations and underground releases.
The music combines elements of Midwest rap, horrorcore, street music, dark humor and the independent Juggalo underground while maintaining the Wicked Wayz identity developed during the early years of the career.
Sick and Demented
The modern Wicked Wayz era continued in 2026 with Sick and Demented, a collaborative project featuring fellow Sinister Minded Music artist Reno Da Crow.
The project represents the current direction of the Sinister Minded movement: established underground experience combined with new releases, new artists, touring, merchandising and independent promotion.
Rather than treating previous accomplishments as the finish line, Wicked Wayz continues using that history as the foundation for what comes next.
Kansas City Roots
Kansas City has produced one of America's strongest independent rap traditions.
Artists including Tech N9ne, Rich the Factor and generations of independent Kansas City musicians demonstrated that artists from the Midwest could create careers without depending entirely on major-label infrastructure.
Wicked Wayz comes from that same culture of independence.
The sound and imagery may travel deeper into horrorcore and Juggalo territory than traditional Kansas City street rap, but the business mentality is familiar:
Own the brand.
Create the music.
Tour.
Sell merchandise.
Build relationships.
Create your own opportunities.
That independent philosophy eventually became the foundation of Sinister Minded Music.
More Than a Rapper
Today, Wicked Wayz operates in several different roles.
Recording artist.
Touring performer.
Promoter.
Merchandise creator.
Independent label owner.
Event organizer.
Artist developer.
Those different roles represent something that has always been important to the Wicked Wayz story.
The goal was never simply to become another rapper chasing attention.
The goal became creating an independent platform capable of surviving regardless of what direction the mainstream music business moves.
The Sinister Minded Era
The next chapter is bigger than Wicked Wayz alone.
Sinister Minded Music is continuing to develop artists, release music, organize live events, create merchandise and build relationships throughout the independent music industry.
What began as one Kansas City underground artist building his own path has developed into a larger independent movement.
The history includes national touring.
It includes two different Gathering of the Juggalos eras.
It includes more than a decade of recorded music.
It includes starting over.
And it includes building something designed to outlast a single artist.
Wicked Wayz isn't trying to become part of somebody else's movement.
He's building his own.
